This is a part of a challenge I’m doing, 28 concepts in 28 days. If you want to read about it head over to the Introduction.

Sleeping is hard, you think after 28 years of practice I’d be good at it. But as I get older, it’s gotten harder. One of my problems is finding a good bedtime. I often switch it up and go to bed at different times, especially on weekends.

After doing some searching I discovered the concept of sleep cycles. When you fall asleep generally your body will go through one full cycle in about 90 minutes where you go from light sleep to deep sleep.

You ever wake up and feel over-tired, struggling to get out of bed? That could happen if you wake up midway through one of these sleep cycles. I realized I had been doing this and suffering for years.

Meet Slumber an app that helps you find your perfect bedtime.

🛏 Bedtime Calculator

It’s simple, all you need to do is enter the time you need to wake up in the morning, and it will calculate the optimal time for you to go to bed. Showing relevant information, like how many hours of sleep you’ll be getting, and the number of sleep cycles.

⌚️ Apple Watch Integration

If you wear your apple watch to bed, Slumber will integrate into your Apple Health data, and calculate how long it takes you to fall asleep. This will help decipher the best time to go to bed by giving you the time you actually need to start falling asleep to meet your sleep goals.

Competitors

SleepyTi.me
This is where my original inspiration came from, great site but hard to use on mobile if you’re in bed, ready to go to sleep.

Sleep Cycle
This is a market leader in the space for certain, they have deep hardware and software integration and a large market share. Great app, but my goal is to introduce something simple.
